Off roading and high flying

So, we've been getting to grips with the Chevy, driving to and from work every day. N's taken to swerving across four lanes of traffic without signalling, just like a local, and yesterday we went on a road trip and set the beast free over some rough terrain. We've got some
way to go before we can call ourselves true Gulf drivers though. While we were easing the monster truck over rocky roads and boggy beaches at 10 mph,  true Qatari drivers were tearing past us at motorway speeds, their Land Cruisers bouncing violently from pothole to pothole, all the while chatting casually on their mobile phones. Breathtaking. The most terrifying moment for me, however, was meeting another driver coming off the motorway slip road on the wrong side of the road. I'm confused enough about what side i'm driving on, without everybody else playing fast and loose with the highway code...

Here we are, looking windswept and adventurous:

After a couple of hiccups and false starts, it looks like we might this week be moving into our new flat. The apartment block is cheaper than most other places in this part of town as it's a bit shabby (by Qatar standards) and people have been put off by the fire that tore through it at the end of last year... but how else could we afford a three bedroom place with a balcony and amazing, uninterrupted sea views? I've insisted on the highest floor they have available, because if fire strikes again and we have to leap off the balcony, I want to be able to savour that gorgeous view for as long as possible - all the way down. It's also got five bathrooms. I don't know what we're going to do with five bathrooms - wash a lot I guess.
